Last year, a GMFTS AmeriCorps member applied for a Seed Grant from New England Grassroots Environment Fund and successfully secured funding to help Charleston Elementary School purchase a Grow Lab, garden supplies, and materials for a new garden sign!
Prior to this, Charleston students had not had the same opportunity to be involved in starting seeds or observing the seedlings grow as students in our other partner schools who all had Grow Labs. The Charleston Grow Lab is now a part of the school garden program and gets put to use in April-May to start seeds, contributing to the enrichment of students’ learning experience in their school garden. The students are excited to use the grow lab and bring plants to life this spring!
