Lunchbox Returns with Summer Food Service Program

The Lunchbox, a summer meal program providing food education, is on the road again this season! Starting June 20th, the Lunchbox will be serving 10 weeks of free meals to kids 18 and under throughout the summer. Breakfast is served from 8 AM – 10 AM and lunch is served from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Free meals will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the locations and times listed below. The Lunchbox will also have adult meals available for purchase, with the proceeds supporting our work to connect children, farms, and communities. Throughout the summer we will be hosting special guest activities, including a CLiF Summer Readers event and meet-your-farmer days. All activities are free and open to the public!

The Lunchbox is operated and supported by Green Mountain Farm-to-School and the Abbey Group.

*No lunch service on July 4th

Green Mountain Farm-to-School is a participant in the Summer Food Service Program for Children.  Funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the program is designed to ensure that children who rely on free or reduced price meals during the school year continue to have adequate nutrition throughout the summer.  In accordance with Federal civil rights law and USDA civil rights regulations and policies, meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Unfortunately, the Lunchbox, will not be serving Island Pond this summer. This was a very difficult decision for the organization to make and we apologize for any difficulties this has resulted in. We believe that all Vermonters deserve access to healthy food, however, our organization is limited in the areas we are able to serve due to a variety of factors. GMFTS regrets that it is unable to fill the very real need for a summer meal site in Island Pond. The Lunchbox will still provide free meals to all kids under 18 at sites in Barton and Newport and you can find more information regarding the Lunchbox schedule here: http://bit.ly/TheLunchboxProgram. Thank you for understanding. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to
