#GivingTuesdayNow and Beyond – A Spring Fundraiser to Support GMFTS’s Response to COVID-19


Here at Green Mountain Farm-to-School (GMFTS) we are encouraged by the resiliency of our community under such sudden and extraordinary pressures. We have seen so many acts of kindness and selflessness, as individuals, organizations, and businesses go out of their way to help friends and neighbors in need. The GMFTS team is doing our part, and we are eager to continue finding new ways to support our community.


During this crisis, GMFTS is playing an important role in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and addressing the needs most present in our community right now. We are working hard to feed the most vulnerable populations, assist our farm partners in identifying new market opportunities, and support parents and educators in remote learning. 


Today, in conjunction with #GivingTuesdayNow, we are launching a Spring Fundraising Drive – to support GMFTS in addressing critical needs in our region and make a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors that have been impacted so suddenly.


“What exactly will my donation go towards?” 

Your financial contribution, in any amount, will help us right now to:


  • Purchase and Deliver fresh, local food to food shelves and food banks through our food hub, Green Mountain Farm Direct. 


  • Establish and continue weekly deliveries to community wide “Buying Clubs” in rural areas – allowing at-risk populations and those 60+ to receive fresh food without risking their health with a trip to the grocery store. 


  • Support our local farmers that have lost income and access to markets due to the closure of schools and restaurants. 


  • Design and implement a safe, socially-distant model of delivering free summer meals to children through our food truck, the Lunchbox. 


  • Help our farm-to-school team to connect with their students at home, and make plans to plant school gardens this spring. Gleaned summer produce from school gardens will be donated to food pantries and utilized at a free veggie give-away at the Lunchbox. 


The need in our community is great and still growing. Now is the time to work diligently to secure the health and well-being of everyone in the Northeast Kingdom as we see this through.
